My husband and two sons came to visit and we decided to go on a walk to a mineral collection site on Moat Mountain in Conway, New Hampshire. My mother came along too, she is 81 years old and doesn’t see too well so you can be assured it wasn’t too hard a hike, although we did have to cross two dry streams and one had a pretty steep bank. The hike was nine tenths of a mile each way.
This mineral site is in the White Mountains National Forest and people go there to collect smokey quartz although we also saw mica in many of the rocks. I will be bringing some samples back to Virginia for the new STEM lab at school.
