This past weekend was the Sewing and Quilting Expo in Chantilly. This was the last year for this venue as it is moving to Fredericksburg next year. For me, it is a day full of wonderful shopping opportunities and the chance to see some curated quilt exhibits, each of which follows a theme. They also have some great classes offered but I never want to take a day off work to attend a class. This year, one of my favorite exhibits was a group of quilts in the shape of houses. The variety of techniques used in this one exhibit was exceptional. Some of the makers are well known including Cynthia St. Charles, who has a blog which my friend, Sue, and I follow.
You can see professional photos of these cute quilts along with hearing the artist statements in their own voice at: http://www.allianceforamericanquilts.org/projects/galleries/Home%20Is%20Where%20the%20Quilt%20Is/gallery/
These will all be auctioned off in November to support the work of the Alliance for American Quilts.
Here are pictures I took.
