This past year our family decided to meet in Fort Lauderdale and go on a week long Carribean cruise for Christmas instead of meeting at one of our homes to celebrate. We decided to forgo all other gifts and each pay for our own cruise instead. It promised to be a relaxing holiday with all the food and the decorations put up (and taken down) by others. Only the youngest member of the family, at age 19 seemed disgruntled over the no presents to exchange policy and he even had his parents to pay for his share of the cruise.
We went on the Princess ship “Ruby Princess” and enjoyed our ports of Princess Cay (the cruise line’s private beach), Saint Thomas (visiting nearby Saint John where Bob and Elizabeth spent their honeymoon), St Maarten and Nassau, Bahamas. The great thing about a cruise for multiple generations is that everyone can go their own way and participate in the activities that appeal to them.
It was a warm and relaxing holiday vacation. I hope we do it again.
